Our New Addition

We've been talking about it for a while, but had been planning to wait until we reached our 6 month mark, and also until we had put in a proper gate in our yard.  The plans jumped the gun today, though, because there is no such thing as going to the Humane Society just to "look"., the puppy.  She doesn't have a name yet.  She's 8-ish months old, and a right ol' mutt.  We'd talked about getting a pitbull, or a lab, or (in my dreams) a greyhound or great dane.  Our home is small, though, and in the end this little beauty won our hearts.  The kind ladies at the shelter said she's some kind of border collie, or heeler, or Australian cattle dog mix.  Who knows.  We think she's pretty.

The last half of today was spent hurriedly putting in fence posts, and tomorrow will bring the actual fence and gate.  If you have any good names floating around in your name-bank, let us know.  Right now we just call her Good Girl.

  1. She is pretty. I'll show these pictures of her to Conrad tomorrow, to see if he has any name ideas for you. (He's the cool kid who named his Beta "Tiger" and he's the one who started calling Zeke "Porcupine" during my pregnant time, so he's pretty good at picking awesome names, I think.)

  2. She looks like a Good Girl! Congrats on the addition. :-)
Your story reminded me of when we got Ben at the Humane Society. Warms the heart!

  3. She is sooo cute! now we really need to get together so our dogs can play! dog park maybe? Humane Society is the way to go!

  4. Well, Conrad couldn't come up with anything. But I had a thought. You could call her Gertrude (Gertie or Trudy for short). I thought it sounded like a name you'd like. :)
